Why we love "bad" cars?

Many people belive in numbers. They think that quicker 0-60 time means better sports car, they say that dual-clutch transmission is better, because it changes gears faster than you could notice. Those guys would buy new car, not looking at used ones just because. The only thing they care about their car is "I must have newer car than my friends. Friends at the party will be jelous of my new Lamborghini (of course guy like that wil pronounce it as "Lam-bor-genie") " and then our imaginary guy will return to his home or office and study stock market. Next day he won't care about his car anymore, because thrill of big numbers is very short-lived.
What is the cure for numbers- focused world, you might ask. Well, here come bad cars I have mentioned in the title. By this sentence you are probably thinking: " This guy has lost his mind. He wants me to buy a Yugo or Trabant. And he says we love this crap." And you would be right about me losing my mind part, but very wrong about the rest. What I mean by a term "bad car" is a car which does not have any measurable advantage over newest cas like Toyota Camry.
The great example of said car is well-known Mazda NA Miata. Miata is anything but fast in a straight line. It is not a practical car either, nor the most capable track or tuner car. Yet it is loved by everyone.
Mazda MX5 Miata (NA)
Why is that happening. If you would ask a philosopher he could say a lot, but he would point at a thing called "soul". Let me explain what I want to name as a soul of a car.
Car's soul is an unmeasurable thing that gives you joy and happines by driving the car. It could be your memories gathered with this specific car, it could be driving experience that is very different than one in most new cars as well. Or just knowledge and sense of driving something important for car culture (that is the real soul of R34 GTR.).
Car with soul has to provide experience which allow you to say it was different than everything. That characteristic could be anything from looks to just history of car itself.
At the end, all I can say: Drive your cars, enjoy them and buy stupid stuff. You will like it.
